Pre-Operative Evaluation FAQs
- Our provider does a comprehensive review of your medical, surgical, social, and family history to determine any risk factors for complications relating to your surgery.
- Your labs are reviewed to assess for any organ dysfunction or conditions that may complicate your ability to tolerate anesthesia, pain medications, or heal properly following surgery.
- An EKG is performed in the clinic to evaluate for any cardiac abnormalities that may complicate your ability to tolerate the stress of surgery and recovery.
- If the provider determines further testing or evaluation by a specialist is needed prior to surgery, they will discuss with your surgeon and coordinate the testing or referrals needed.
- Your medications are reviewed and instructions are provided regarding adjustments to dosing and medications to hold before and after surgery
- While your PCP can certainly perform a pre-operative evaluation, some facilities have more specific criteria that your PCP may not know about.
- We coordinate with our client facilities and providers on a regular basis to ensure that our pre-operative screening protocols are in line with each individual facility’s requirements for pre-operative testing and screening.
- Your lab orders will be sent electronically to Clinical Pathology Labs (CPL), or any other laboratory facilities per request
- An email confirmation will be sent to you that will have a map attached of all local CPL locations for your convenience. You can go to any of these locations.
- You do not need to be fasting for these labs, as cholesterol will not be checked
